Hi Everyone! Welcome to the boards run by the student government here at Case SOM. These boards were created exclusively to help incoming students and to answer your questions.
To start, my name is Lei Lei and I am now the former technology representative. I am currently in my second year. My undergraduate university is WashU ('05) and I'm involved in CSR and the Student Admissions Committee. Feel free to email me if you have any questions at lxl94 (@case.edu).

Hey everyone! Congrats on your acceptance at Case!
My name is Wayne, and I am the new technology representative and currently a 1st year. I am from Atlanta, GA, went Case for undergrad, graduated '05 (BA, Anthropology), worked for a year in the non-profit world in Seattle, WA, then came back to my alma mater for medical school. I'm involved in CSR (Committee of Student Representatives), CMDA (Christian Medical & Dental Association), and a few other groups. I'm probably going to do the 5-year MD/MPH thing. Feel free to email me with questions as well: hwl3@ (you know the rest).
This forum was REALLY helpful for me last year in transitioning to medical school. I used it to find my two roommates, get tips on places to hunt for housing, buy use books, and ask upperclassmen questions. So take advantage of the forum (and thanks Lei Lei for creating it!).

Hi everyone my name is Adam. I figured I would be the first to post since I have the time. I am going to be a first year and went to undergrad at Notre Dame, class of '06. I deferred for a year in order to work at a free clinic. I'm looking for good suggestions for a place to live and also for a possible roommate or two, so don't be shy with any ideas. I'm very excited to be at Case and can't wait to meet all of you.

I guess this means I get to be number 2 :0) My name is Jessica Ruff and I am currently a senior at Miami University were I am involved in all sorts of things, including Residence Life and Athletics, and this thing my professors like to call writing your thesis. I am definitely interested in finding a roommate for next year, 4 years of living in the dorms and it would be a shock to live by myself next year. I suppose that's good enough for now... I'm sure I'll write more later!

Hi Adam and Jessica! Welcome to Case! In regards to looking for housing, we're lucky because Cleveland is a pretty nice renter's market, and generally it's easy to find a place for not too expensive. Here's a good starting point to look for housing: casemed.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=house&action=display&thread=1148437329The contacts are a little old, but the list of apartments are very current. That list will give you an idea of where are some of the more popular places for med students to live. We hope to update the list of contacts with email addresses of current first years soon! As for finding roommates, I found my two roommates on this forum last year, so this forum has a lot of potential to be really useful if people would jump in. So for those of you who haven't yet registered or posted, don't be shy. Introduce yourselves! Welcome again! Feel free to email me any questions you guys may have. hwl3 AT case DOT edu.

Hey everyone,
My name is José and I'm currently a first year at Case. I wanted to introduce myself to you guys and give you my contact information in case you all had any questions. I am originally from Ecuador, have lived all over the U.S., and graduated this last May from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in Chemistry.
I live in the Waldorf Towers (many of you might have seen the building during your interview tour) which is about a 7-10 minute walk from the medical campus. I actually live 2 doors down from Wayne (the CSR technolgy chair). Anyway, here at Case I'm involved in Student National Medical Association (SNMA), Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), a couple of volunteering activities around town, and am currently taking a class from one of the graduate school programs here.
I encourage you guys to post any questions you might have on this board -- it's a great resource! My e-mail is jms132@case.edu Feel free to contact me. See you in a couple of months!

Congratulations on your acceptance to medical school. It's been a long and bumpy road for most. My name is Pankit and I am a first year at Case. So far so good. I did my undergrad at Northwestern and I am originally from Chicago. Right now my activities include Anatomy Lab (graduatec course), Journal Club, Student Committee on Medical Education and "24". If any of you guys (or gals) have questions about the curriculum I am probably a good source or I can refer you to someone. Feel free to email me at pankit340@gmail.com with questions.

hello everyone -
just made the mental decision to go to case, sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling!
my name is kumar (yes, like the movie) and i graduated from duke in '04. i've been working in boston for a couple years in a cancer genetics lab. i'm a fan of college basketball, cycling, golf, and lounging - though not necessarily in that order.
interesting tid-bit: every time I've moved somewhere, the city has won a national championship. i started high school and the marlins won in '97, duke won a national title my freshman year, and the first year i'm in boston, the sox win the world series after 80+ years of waiting (the patriots won a super bowl too). i'm hoping that the trend continues and the cav's (or another cleveland team) win it all in '08!
i'll be at second-look weekend, so i hope to meet you all soon. Between now and when school starts, I'll be traveling or on vacation.
cheers- Kumar

Hey Folks,
My name is Liz and I am also a Duke grad 05'... go Blue Devils! I'm orginally from Denver, CO and I'm a huge Broncos fan... I love the game of football. I currently live in downtown DC and work at NIH doing social and behavioral research on race, ethnicity and genetics. I'm a little apprehensive about moving to Cleveland but hopefully the class of 2011 will be so great that I won't even notice what the city might be lacking. I will be attending Case's second look so I hope to see you all there. Anyone attending the minority reception thing on Friday?
Liz

Hey all,
My name is Joey and I recently graduated from Case undergrad. I am spending the semester at home in the DC area working, before returning to Case in July. I will be driving up from the DC area for the Second Look Weekend, so if you are in the area and want a ride, feel free to ask!! Also, since I did spend the last 3.5 years at Case, if you have any questions about the Cleveland area, I would be more than willing to answer them. Obviously, I must like Case to be willing to spend another 4 years there. That, or I am a glutton for punishment...

Hey everyone! My name is Allie... I graduated from Union College in '05 and I'm living in Boston now. I'm doing molecular bio research in a neurology lab at Mass General. I'm really excited to meet my future classmates at second look weekend! About me? Let's see... I love skiing, dancing, kayaking, hiking, political activism, football and college radio. I can't believe I just turned myself into a bulleted list. I'll be at second look weekend, starting with the minority reception. Hope to see you there!
