Hey 11ers, my name is John, and I'm a first year. I graduated from UNC in '04 and took a couple of years off to research and explore some personal interests. I'm loving here at Case; the only thing I don't like is that they continue to make the mistake of admitting Duke alums I recently joined the Student Committee on Medical Education, and have all along been very interested in the ways in which we learn and are educated. Please contact me if you would like a student's perspective on the curriculum (or you can contact anyone, since there are as many opinions as there are students). I for one am a big fan, but I would be glad to give you my honest assessment of both the positives and negatives. Other than that, do yourself the favor of enjoying all your time between now and the start of school.

This is me deciding to go to Case! Ho ho!
My name's Kathryn and I'm going to try to swing it for second look, but we'll see what airfares are like. Is anyone travelling from upstate NY/VT/NH or (dare I say...) Canada? If so, can we try to coordinate? I sing great car songs. (toot toot!) And, as added entertainment, if you ask nicely I will say 'eh' at the end of my sentences and will sound like the real deal instead of a hosier!
I grew up in Maine, but just finished my undergrad at McGill (Montreal) this winter in environmental science and anthropology. I'm currently relishing my school vacation, working 9-to-5 in a soil lab and sledding on stolen campaign signs on the weekends. I like it so much that, when I'm feeling down, I can listen to Dolly Parton's song '9-to-5' and everything is hunky-dory once again. I love all things active, outdoors, light-hearted (like eating confectionaries!!), fictional OR historical, naps, and especially the color red. I don't like filing taxes.
Can't wait to meet everyone! I haven't been this excited since finding out that Crookshanks is part-kneazle!

Hi my name is Nicole, although most people call me Nikki. I will be joining you all from the great frozen state of Minnesota (I am looking forward to the tropics of Cleveland). I've been out of school for a while (4 yrs) designing new medical products for a large company in Minneapolis. In my free time, I am training for half-marathons and 10K triathalons. I also love to salsa dance, or any dance for that matter. I take in a lot of movies and I'm hopeless addicted to "24". I believe in working hard and playing harder. I'm the type of person to try *almost* anything once. Most importantly, I am, and always will be, a Badger fan!

Hey guys again. I'm excited that so many people are going to second look weekend. I definitely won't be turning down a free weekend in Cleveland. Well as a further intro to myself, I'm the biggest Tigers fan there is. I actually grew up a five minute walk from old Tigers Stadium. I'll be buying tickets to all of the Indians Tigers games in the next couple of days and plan on getting extras. If anybody is already interested let me know. I hope everyone has a safe trip and I look forward to meeting everyone.

Well hello....like everyone else, I am looking forward to this weekend in Cleveland. Well, except for the fact that its around 75 or 80 in Atlanta right now and its not in cleveland, so the cold will be a wake up. So, my name is Steven and I am currently a senior at Morehouse College (in Atlanta) and I guess I'm pretty typical. I am politically active, into public health... all the other stuff people say....I like playing sports, watching them, and occasionally something intellectual if the mood hits, like reading a book that is not a text book. No, seriously I am looking forward to meeting everyone in our class and I hope you all get to Cleveland safely (me included) and see you soon!!!

Hey all,
Since I met so many of you cool people at 2nd look, I thought I'd put down a quick intro in case you have any further questions about Case. My name is Cathy and I'm from Seattle, graduated from University of Washington '06, went straight into Case after a month of summer. I'm currently a first year doing the joint MD/MS Anatomy program. I'm also a director for Doc Opera next year so if any of you have talent, or just want to have fun, lemme know! One more club I'm involved with is APAMSA. I love dancing, playing sports, sleeping, and eating. Want some good ethnic restaurants? I've explored a good few. Big on sports? So is our class (We're intramural champs for men's and women's basketball and we're starting up our weekly soccer games again now that the weather's been so nice, yay!). I'm currently living at the Waldorf with another first year who I happened to have met on this forum a year ago. Questions or just want to chat? Hit me up.
Cathy

Hello from Doc Opera 2007! Welcome class of 2011! Your 2007 Directors have a few quick announcements for everyone...
1. We would like to announce the title for the 2007 production:
DOC OPERA 2007: License to HEAL
Doc Opera is a long-standing tradition at Case School of Medicine and it’s a great time for Case Med students to show off their singing, dancing, and acting talents (regardless of talent level – after all we are primarily med students!) and generally ham it up while having a great time with friends. Doc Opera is a popular production that is written, directed, and performed by students (with a few faculty cameos!) so start gettin’ in the mood to bust a move …
Additionally, we would love for members from your class to submit some song lyrics for next year's show! Typically the songs are well known songs with lyrics that parody Case, Cleveland, faculty members, or any topic relating to medicine at all. So start singing along to the radio and writing down your good ideas!
We look forward to meeting all of you, Doc Opera Directors!

Hey Future Classmates! I didn't make it to first-look weekend, but I'm really excited to meet you all! I am currently living in Cleveland, so if any of you are in the Cleveland area and want to meet up over a coffee or brew in the next month or two, just drop me an email!
My name is Mike and I graduated from Harvard in '03. I've been living in New Hampshire and working for the American Youth Foundation for the past 3 years, and now am volunteering at the Cleveland Clinic to pass the time until our opening day. I'm a big backpacker and biker, and a huge Cleveland Cavs fan. I'm looking forward to exploring the Cleveland scene over the next few years.
I am currently looking for apartments and roommates, so if you're in the same boat and looking for a local to help find places, look me up.
See you soon!
Mike

Hi there, my name is Casey and I graduated from UNC in '06. Since then I've been living near Chapel Hill, NC working in the Neurology dept. at UNC. I am a sometimes avid runner and hiker, I like listening to and going to see college-radio bands, I have a real sweetheart of a dog (Baraka-named for a Mortal Combat II character), and when I have time I read (mostly fiction)and cook. I grew up in MD, north of DC, so I'm not a true Southerner, but I've definitely got that friendly carefree personality and a love of good food and better weather. Looking forward to meeting ya'll! (<-something else I've absorbed in NC)

Hey y'all, I am a proud and southerner from Louisiana. I can't wait to see how my easy- going approach to life and love for eating good food clashes with medical school lifestyle. Hopefully we will have lots of fun together. I enjoy playing golf, listening to live music and discovering new places to eat. I finished undergrad in BME at Tulane last spring and have been taking some anatomy classes at Case this year. Like most of you, it's really exciting to finally end all of the speculation and commit to one medical school. I will be around Cleveland for most of our shortened summer so let me know if you're a golfer or just need something to do.
Also, if you're moving into the Waldorf don't hesistate to use my name as a referral. I will be happy to split the referral bonus with you.

Hi Classmates. My family (partner Janna, 19 month old son Sal) and I just bought a house in Cleveland Heights and I'm here by myself until Monday cleaning it up in preparation for our move on the 30th. I'd love to get together in the evening with any classmates in the neighborhood and explore Cleveland Heights or other parts of the city.
I'm from Louisville Ky. I've never been a sports fan but it seems like Cleveland will be a good place to become one. I enjoy riding my bike and will be exploring the city by bicycle if anyone is interested in doing that with me. I'm two blocks from the Cedar Lee intersection, and I have a real nice front porch. If anyone's free in the afternoons or evenings give me a call 216-287-7760 (I only have internet through the public library).
Sam
